Málaga - The International Cruise Port & Old Town
Malaga has always been a tourist city, one that is greatly admired for its diverse culture including the art of its one time resident Pablo Picasso and its magnificent Moorish architecture. However the port of Malaga has been the subject of a long and total reform which has transformed into the second most important cruise destination in Spain, only Barcelona has more cruise visitors.

Almost 700.000 passengers pass through the port each year on 299 different cruises liners and the numbers are growing each year. As well as the cruise traffic Málaga is an international commercial seaport and also has a busy and bustling fishing port, the oldest of its’ kind still operating in Spain. Located in a natural bay, well protected by the shape of its coastline just at the edge of the historic cultural centre, it offers access to all of the city´s beaches via the “Pablo Ruiz Picasso” Promenade
Muelle Uno - The Place To Be
In 2011 the city invested 80-Million Euros into Málaga’s port converting and the project was a huge success. Nowadays we can enjoy a 14.000m2 recreation and commercial centre with underground parking, seventy shops, bars, restaurants and children’s play areas. Throughout the year the port authority organizes an array of events and concerts, these are hosted outside on Quay 1 or “Muelle Uno” which is fast developing into a renowned evert venue.
There is also square where live music is organized during the week and from time to time it is converted into an open air cinema. Famous chefs come to give life cookery demonstrations. There is a regular Sunday market offering a range of clothes, jewellery, organic food and artisan products.
Málaga - The Moorish Castle & Old Town
The atmosphere during the day is charming and relaxed but at night you will be dazzled by the Castle “Gibralfaro”. Set on a hill and dazzlingly lit to show off its classic Moorish architecture of what was for centuries an important strategic fortress. Across the sea you will also have a great view of the illuminated Ferris wheel giving the best view of both the port and the old town.
If you want to get into more culture and experience Andalusian lifestyle than you should venture into the town of Malaga. One of the best known streets is “Calle Larios” which during Christmas time has an amazing light show. On and around this street you can find all different shops, bars, restaurants, fancy clubs that have roof terraces overlooking the bay, the Picasso Museum and the theatre in a historic building.
Málaga has a great deal to offer and you will find something for everyone´s taste. It is very easy to get to, the airport is ten minutes from the city centre, the fast train (AVE) from Madrid arrives into the city centre but not not only tourists visit Málaga, Marbella residents love to visit the city and often go there because it is only a half hour’s drive away.
